Sullivan Ndege is a rising star in Kenya's rugby scene, captivating audiences with charm, authenticity, and boldness. Born and raised in Mombasa, Sullivan's love for the mic started in her high school journalism club. Despite being a trained teacher, her passion for emceeing now pays her bills, a journey that began with an unforgettable first gig.
In 2022, Sullivan stumbled into rugby emceeing at the Impala Floodlights after volunteering to fill in for an absent host. "I was so green," she recalls. "But I told the organizers, 'I'm willing to assist, just guide me,' and that was it!" From there, she has hosted major rugby events, including Safari Sevens and Kabeberi Sevens, carving her niche in a male-dominated space.
"I'm the only female emcee in rugby," Sullivan says. "It was a bold step, but I was ready to learn." Her lively style blends English and Swahili seamlessly, reflecting her vibrant personality and connection with the crowd.
Known for her African-inspired fashion, Sullivan's outfits mirror her mood and confidence while staying practical for the weather. "Authenticity and comfort are key," she explains.
For Sullivan, fans make every event special. "There is an energy Kenyan crowds bring joy, excitement, and life!" Looking ahead, she dreams of emceeing in football and Safari Rally, inspiring women to follow her lead.
"To the ladies out there: if you have the drive and the voice, make the bold move. Every day is a chance to grow and get better," she says.
